COSCO Container lines Europe GmbH Germany Branch

COSCON Europe Germany Branch (abbreviated as COSCON Germany) is COSCO Container lines operation organization in Germany. It is acting as agents for COSCO for more than 35 years.

Offering our customers the efficiency of a worldwide transport network with all the quality standards the world market requires these days, which is one of the reasons why COSCON Germany was already awarded the "ISO-9002 certification" in 1995.
COSCON Germany guarantees efficient and reliable service to clients and highly professional advice in all questions of transport. Altogether, more than 120 experienced employees currently work at our main office in Hamburg and at our offices in Bremen, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.

Beside local Export and Import container operation, we can offer inland haulage activities for Germany, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, the complete range of transport services including all modes of carriage by water and landside. Our main focus is rail/truck and direct truck transports in Germany as well as rail/truck and direct truck transports to east Europe. Of course we are also capable of most competitive barge arrangements and rail siding deliveries. To complete the picture we are ready to assist in transports by all available modes from Germany via Antwerp or Rotterdam and vice versa.

Also other destinations and origins all over Europe are possible and can be quoted and arranged by using reliable, fast and cost effective transportation vendors.

In addition, we can offer the full range of value added services such as customs clearance and issuance of transit documents in connection with your transport. Also stuffing and unstuffing activities as well as warehousing solutions are possible.

COSCO in Germany

 
  Take a small journey through time and follow the history of COSCO in Germany:  
  In 1963, the Rickmers Line starts to act as agent for COSCO, the China Ocean Shipping Company, in Hamburg.  
  COSCO buys the "Etha Rickmers" from the Rickmers Line in 1964. The vessel is renamed "Youhao".  
  In 1965, the first COSCO vessel, the "Loadong", called of the port of Hamburg.  
  In 1972, a branch office is set up in Bremen for the agency business in Bremen, Bremerhaven and Weserports.  
  In 1974, the Rickmers Line merges with Hapag-Lloyd. The "Claus Rickmers KG" is founded in the same year and takes over the agency business for COSCO, SINOTRANS and the Rickmers Line.  
  In 1983, COSCO Shanghai launches the regular full container scheduled service from China to North-West Europe.  
  On 1st January 1986, the "COSRIC Shipping Agency GmbH" is founded (a joint venture between COSCO/CUTC and Rickmers) and the COSCO agency business is taken over in Germany.  
  Opening of COSRIC's branch office Frankfurt in Bad Homburg on 1st April, 1991. In the same year, COSCO becomes the sole owner of "COSRIC Shipping Agency GmbH" by taking over 100 percent of the shares on 1st July, 1991.  
  In 1992, "COSRIC Shipping Agency GmbH" moves into the new office building at Herrengraben 74 (Ost-West-Hof) in Hamburg.
 
  In July 1995, COSCO Germany is certified according to "Quality Management System" DIN EN ISO 9002.  
  To express its complete affiliation to the COSCO Group, the COSRIC Shipping Agency GmbH is renamed "COSCO Germany Shipping Agencies GmbH" on 1st April 1996. A new branch office at Düsseldorf is opened the same day.  
  In February 1997, the COSCO "Transatlantic Service" is launched. Modern full-container ships connect Europe with the US-East-Coast.  
  In May 1999, the COSCO Frankfurt branch office re-located from Bad Homburg to Kelsterbach.  
  As from 1 January 2002, COSCO Germany Shipping Agencies GmbH is merged with our European headquarters, COSCO EUROPE GmbH. The new company's name is COSCO EUROPE GmbH - Germany Branch. Almost all departments of COSCO GERMANY Shipping Agencies GmbH will be continued as before.  
  To further strengthen their position in a global market, COSCO Container Lines, Shanghai, have consolidated all container activities worldwide. In Europe, COSCO Container Lines Europe GmbH, Hamburg, was formed. Its stocks are held by COSCO Container Lines, Shanghai/China.  
  As of 01 January 2005, this company takes on the tasks which in the past were carried out by "COSCO Europe GmbH" / "COSCO Europe GmbH - Germany Branch".
